Stat attack: Lions are ranked 27 in pass defense and will struggle to contain Brock Purdy, and more reasons San Francisco should win

The San Francisco 49ers are favorites to defeat the plucky Detroit Lions, who have one of the leagues worst passing defenses.

The NFC Championship game will he a perfect opportunity for quaryerback Brock Purdynto test the Lions, the 27th ranked pass defense in the league.

The 49ers will host the match at Levi’s Stadium and will look to exploit the 247.4 yards per game the Lions are allowing through the air.

At least Christian McCaffrey should have a tougher team as the Lions have the second-best defense against the run, only giving up 88.8 yards per game.

San Francisco is not the league’s best defensive team in the air, and rank 14th so Jared Goff could get behind the D line.

The 49ers allow 214.2 passing yards per game.

But the 49ers are devastating offensively and rank fourth in the league in passing yards, with 257.9 passing yards per game.

They also rank third I’m rushing offense and rushing defense.

They rank number one in the NFL in yards per play (6.8) and eighth on defense (5.3 yards per play).

The numbers, form book and odds point to a 49ers Superbowl but this could be the year of the Lions, and no numbers can stop the roar of Detroit.
