Eagles HC Nick Sirianni survives the chop but the Philadelphia team is desperate to slot in a new offensive coordinator

The Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has seemingly escaped the noose and will remain in Philadelphia, but he will be helped by a new OC.

Sirianni survived by the skin of his teeth and believes he will have to “reprove” himself.

He admitted the team was a “bit stale” towards the last seven games, losing six of them including the wildcard playoff to the Buccaneers.

Sirianni tried to stop the rot by getting rid of OC Brian Johnson late in the season, but the horse had already bolted.

“We’re bringing in a guy to bring in new ideas, to do the things that he’s done in the past,” Sirianni said.

The Eagles looked full of promise and intent going 10-1 to start the season but the wheels fell off for the Superbowl finalists.

“We’re going through an extensive search to get that right person. But it would be crazy not to add some of the things that we’ve done in the past here, as well. I don’t know if it’s going to be 95 percent this, 95 percent that — we’re not there yet.

“We’re working on getting the best guy in here for the job and a guy who has a vision, a guy who’s going to call the plays, a guy who’s going to be able to coach the quarterback in the same sense there. It’s just about getting the right guy, and then we’ll decide where that goes, but I’m hiring him”.

Former Cardinal coach Kliff Kingsbury and Texans offensive coordinator Jerrod Johnson have already interviewed, but it seems they have not found the right fit yet.
