Jake Ferguson’s girlfriend, Haley, recently shared her distressing experience of becoming a target for online bullies after news of her relationship with Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson became public.
In a candid Q&A on YouTube with her sister, Hanna Cavinder, Haley opened up about the impact of cyberbullying on her mental well-being.
Haley vividly recalled the moment when she first encountered the hurtful comments:
“I was in Forever 21 having a great day with my mom and Hannah, and I got this post, and I just started looking at the comments about my face.” Despite being a confident person, the online criticism about her appearance, especially in the context of her relationship with Jake, took a toll on her. She expressed the emotional strain, saying, “I had a mental breakdown.”
Discussing the dynamics of dealing with public scrutiny, Haley explained:
“I’m a confident girl, but when people are saying stuff about you — if you have a boyfriend and someone is talking about you online with your boyfriend… like coming at your features — I’m like, this is new and obviously Jake is a great guy, but you don’t want to be called ugly on the internet 24/7, and your boyfriend sees it. That’s not going to make anyone feel cool.”
Despite the challenges, Haley spoke about her current confidence and comfort in sharing her relationship publicly, crediting Jake for being open about it from the beginning.
She acknowledged Jake’s supportive nature and stated, “He was always like that, so it made me feel very comfortable and confident sharing him as well.”
Haley and Jake Ferguson’s relationship began in June 2023 when they connected through social media.
Recalling their initial interactions, Haley mentioned, “He DM’d me,” and humorously added, “He likes to say I DM’d him, but I didn’t.”
The couple went on a date in Fort Lauderdale, and after spending quality time together, they officially started dating in October 2023.
Haley plays college basketball for the TCU Horned Frogs, previously playing for the Fresno State Bulldogs and the Miami Hurricanes.
In his first year playing for the Dallas Cowboys, Jake Ferguson, who was chosen by the team in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, did really well.
He scored his first NFL touchdown in Week 6 by catching a pass and running seven yards into the end zone, even though the team lost that game 26–17 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Throughout his rookie season, Jake showed he could play consistently. He caught the ball 19 times, gaining a total of 174 yards, and scored two touchdowns in 16 games, eight of which he started.
