“This is no tennis match” ESPN Analyst Jay Williams Eats His Words as Alabama Fans Roar, Apologizes After Misjudging Crowd Enthusiasm

Jay Williams, the ESPN network’s college basketball analyst, had earlier made remarks against the Alabama crowd when he was joined by Jon Sciambi during the game against the Clemson Tigers.

The Tigers went on to win the game and the concluding score was 77-85. Williams had shared his comments regarding the enthusiasm of the crowd and via the awful announcing he had said, “The place is not packed, the fans don’t seem to be engaged, it seems to be more like a tennis match”.

His comments definitely irked the fans and after that game, Williams once again returned for the Alabama vs. Auburn Tigers match. Then the analyst once again issued his remarks, saying, “Can I be honest with you? Last time I was here, it was very disappointing. I said on national TV on ESPN that it felt more like a tennis match than a basketball game. I get it. It was football season. A lot of things have transpired. Nick Saban’s no longer here, they welcomed a new head coach, I got it. But tonight? It’s about the Iron Bowl of basketball. It’s against Auburn. It better not be a tennis match. Not tonight.”

However, the Alabama fans during the match against the Tigers showed that they could be louder and cheered their team with top-notch enthusiasm. Alabama eventually won the match, defeating the Auburn Tigers with a final score of 79-75.

Williams after seeing the crowd and their passion expressed during the broadcast, said, “This is no tennis match, Ravi, I don’t care if the lights are going out, we’ve had multiple electricians in here. This building is off the charts”.
