Wrestling legend Vince McMahon has resigned as the Executive Chairman of TKO, the company that owns WWE, following explosive sexual assault allegations made by a former WWE staffer. The 78-year-old McMahon, who was not involved in the day-to-day operations but played a prominent role within TKO, released a statement reiterating his innocence but stated that stepping down was the best move for the wrestling promotion he founded.
In a federal lawsuit filed in Connecticut, Janel Grant accused McMahon of sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions, including degrading acts during a threesome in 2020. Grant claimed she endured the situation out of fear that her requests to stop would be ignored or used against her career. McMahon allegedly distanced himself from Grant in early 2022 after his wife, Linda McMahon, became aware of their alleged relationship.

Grant asserted that McMahon agreed to pay her $3 million in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement, but he failed to fulfill the payment. McMahon has vehemently denied the allegations, describing the lawsuit as “replete with lies” and a “vindictive distortion of the truth.” The resignation comes amidst a significant shakeup for WWE and TKO, with McMahon’s departure having a notable impact on the wrestling industry.
