NCAA Hockey Clash Takes Unfortunate Turn as NESN Feed Error Prematurely Reveals Winner in Boston University vs. Boston College Showdown

NCAA hockey’s top-ranked teams Boston University and Boston College squared off in arguably the most highly anticipated game of the year on Saturday. While the sold-out crowd at Boston’s Agganis Arena were treated to a nail-biting finish, fans at home were not so lucky.

The NESN team may need to work on ironing out some of the wrinkles with their productions after an error in the feed cost viewers. A delay in the game led to the commentators accidentally divulging the winner before the broadcast was able to catch up. For viewers at home, it turned out to be a highly anticlimactic finish to an outstanding game between two of the best college teams in the country.

With the audio and video out of sync, fans at home may have been a little confused when the commentator Tyler Murray stated “Two wins over the number one team in the country,” with 11 seconds left on the clock.

With the game going down to the wire, every second counted. Down 4-3 at the time, Boston University were battling to tie the game when the feed seemed to fall behind.

In the end, the number two-ranked Boston College were able to hold on to secure a slender win over the number one team in the country. Boston College completed a two-game sweep over their rivals after a 4-1 victory on Friday.

The Green Lane Rivalry, which dates back to 1918, is one of the most heated and intense in NCAA hockey. The two schools are separated by just 4 miles. The teams have met 293 times with Boston University holding a 139-133-21 edge in the series.

Fans may have been disappointed after missing out on the thrilling finish on Saturday but the two teams are set to face each other again on February 5.
