It is hard to imagine what more New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson could have done to warrant a starting spot at the NBA All-Star Game.
Since his trade to the Big Apple, Brunson has been instrumental in transforming the Knicks into contender in the Eastern Conference. The team currently sit fourth in the East with a 29-17 record and are riding a six-game win streak. Led by their star point guard, New York has won 12 of their last 14 games, including impressive wins over Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat.

During a recent appearance on NBA Today, well-known NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith, who was born in New York and follows the Knicks closely, stated he was “perfectly fine” with Brunson being snubbed for a starting spot. That led to a heated back-and-forth exchange between Smith and former NBA player Kendrick Perkins.
Perkins was highly critical of his colleague. He proceeded to roast Smith and Knicks fans everywhere for their lack of support for Brunson:
“Something wrong with you, and something wrong with the Knicks fanbase.”
Before Stephen A. Smith was able to respond Perkins shut him down once again.
“You stay right there and you fix your body language,” added Perkins.
Jalen Brunson was selected to the All-Star Game but narrowly missed out on a starting spot in the Eastern Conference lineup. He was tied with Damian Lillard in votes for the second spot but lost out due to the fan vote that favored the Milwaukee Bucks star. Tyrese Haliburton and Lillard were both named starters ahead of Brunson.
Stephen A. Smith ended up voting for Indian Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton and Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell as his two guards for the East.
This season, Brunson has averaged 26.6 points, 6.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game. He is also shooting an incredible 42.6 percent from behind the arc.
