On Monday, Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons returned from a three-month layoff due to a back injury, but just after one game again he is back on the team’s injury report.

As reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Simmons is out for Wednesday’s game between the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns due to a left knee contusion.

Charania reports pointed out Simmons had “developed swelling” after a hit to his knee during Monday’s game against the Utah Jazz, his return to the court for the first time since Nov. 6.

He posted on X updating on Simmons’s injury report,

“Ben Simmons is out for Nets-Suns tonight due to a left knee contusion. He returned on Monday after a two-month absence, posting 10 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds vs. Utah. Simmons developed swelling in the knee from a hit during the game, sources say, but tests showed no further issue.”

According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, he is now listed as questionable ahead of Brooklyn’s Wednesday night game against the Phoenix Suns due to a knee contusion.

The latest injury to Simmons, the three-time All-Star, was following his fall on a block during Brooklyn’s 147-114 win against the Utah Jazz on Monday.

In the win, he posted 12 points, eight rebounds, 11 assists, and zero turnovers on his way to a plus-27 in 18 minutes.

After the game, he shared on his fall with the reporters,

“No, I feel good. Just another hit, a little awkward fall, but I feel good.”

Ahead of The Nets and Suns game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, an update on Simmons’s status should be made available.
