However, Dave Canales believes that Young is destined for greatness. Canales, the Panthers’ newly appointed head coach, claims that the potential in Young is immense despite a rocky start.

Bryce Young’s entry into the NFL seemed promising when, in 2023, he was the first one selected in the draft. Alas, Young’s early performance was a far cry from the hype that surrounded his selection to the Panthers.
Panthers’ new head coach Dave Canales, despite the criticism of Young, has maintained strong faith in him. Canales believes in Young’s abilities and believes he embodies the essential qualities of a top-tier quarterback.
“The more that I got ready for this interview and started watching Bryce, looking at my notes from his eval, that’s just a year ago, we were evaluating him as a player, as a person, with all the information that we could, I just got more and more fired up about the opportunity to have this amazing talent,” Canales said. “And he’s the guy. He’s the right guy. We all talk about when we have that quarterback, that face of the franchise type of player, and that got me really excited.”
As the Panthers’ new head coach, Canales was hired with one primary mission: to ensure Bryce Young fully reached his potential. It is a monumental task, considering Young’s shaky first year.
