“It’s a f—ing mess” – Jets coach vents out frustration after team missed playoffs for thirteenth consecutive season

The New York Jets’ 2023 season turned into a disappointing saga marked by injuries, questionable decisions, and a playoff drought that now extends to 13 seasons.

Jets coach Robert Saleh’s frustration reached a boiling point as the team missed the playoffs yet again, which prompted an internal investigation into what went wrong.

Following Rodgers expressing his desire to join the Jets, Green Bay and New York began negotiating a trade. The agreement was completed in late April, right before the 2023 NFL draft. In return for Rodgers and a 2023 first- and fifth-round pick, the Jets traded away three of their 2023 picks, which included a first, a second, and a sixth.

Aaron Rodgers’ arrival brought a lot of hope to the Jets.

However, disaster struck when Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles on September 11, 2023 during his debut with the New York Jets.

It forced the Jets to readjust their goals from Super Bowl aspirations to a more modest seven wins.

In the entire 2023 NFL Season, the conflict between a star-studded defense and a struggling offense became a recurring theme.

The problems deepened with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett struggling to adapt the offense after Rodgers’ injury.

Described as lacking attention to detail, Hackett’s coaching style raised concerns, and the offensive struggles persisted throughout the season.

The result was a series of losses extending the Jets’ playoff drought to a staggering 13 years.

“It’s just such a f—ing mess,” one Jets coach said as per The Athletic. “Something has to change.”

On December 17, 2023, the New York Jets were excluded from the 2023 NFL playoffs following a 30-0 defeat against the Miami Dolphins.

The Jets’ inability to secure a victory, coupled with the successes of the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans, resulted in their elimination from contention for the AFC playoffs.

As the New York Jets look ahead to the offseason, the team plans to address issues on the offensive line and at wide receiver.

However, the Jets also believes the ultimate solution lies in the return of Aaron Rodgers, despite the risks associated with his age and recent Achilles injury.
