Justin Rose Reveals Declining LIV Offer 2-3 Years Ago for Childhood Dream of Winning Majors

Justin Rose revealed he was seriously considering joining the LIV Golf League after winning his 11th time on the PGA Tour after a four-year losing streak.

Justin Rose said there was a time in recent years when he thought deeply about joining the LIV Golf League.

Rose, 45, ended a four-year victory wait on the PGA Tour last week at Pebble Beach, scoring his 11th win on the North American circuit.

Rose’s last win came at Torrey Pines in 2019, and he has endured a tough few years since then.

He fell to 35th in the Official World Golf Rankings and struggled at the Ryder Cup. But if Rose were to retire today, he would want to contribute to this one major championship, even though he may have had an illustrious career.

The ability of the players who participated in the breakaway tour to play in the majors is in doubt, but things are slowly becoming clearer.

It’s been a long process for Rose to decide whether to join Greg Norman and the stars of Ryder Cup Europe.

How involved was Rose in the LIV discussions?

Obviously, it was discussed over his four years or his five years of the process. No, this was not a decision to remove the Swilcan Bridge terrace, but rather the first hearing in a five-day hearing in London between the DP World Tour and LIV players over fines and suspensions.

As for Rose, he believes having LIV players teeing off will definitely strengthen the field in the Europe-based tournament, but he wants to remain open.

“Listen, these are definitely enhanced European Tour events from a field and other standpoint. But at the same time, many of these guys have made tremendous contributions to the European Tour for over 20 years.”

“Well, look, I try not to get involved because I have a lot of their friends and they’re still friends of mine. I will not judge their decisions because everyone has their own parameters regarding what decisions are good and what is bad. “Well, but listen, I’m still with them and want to get better.”

“Of course, I want to fit into the group in my own way…”

Rose qualified for the 2023 Masters’ but has added his name to the Ryder Cup.

Rose said:

“I never imagined what the Ryder Cup would be like for me.”

But I also talked to Luke.

The Hero Cup and stuff like that is my main starting point for the year. I need to be a part of that. But I thought the most important thing for me was to get off to a good start on the PGA Tour so I don’t feel pressured later in the season and my focus will always be on the Ryder Cup and the European Tour.

“That’s going to be a big part of this part of the season.”

It’s been a great three weeks, my outlook on the rest of the year has improved, and they build a platform for grades.

“Yes, I am very good to join the team in my own way, but I wanted to be a player if I played well, Luke thought to join this team and like it.”

Justin Rose has revealed that concerns over his world-class credentials prevented him from joining the LIV Golf League.

“There were times when everything looked good on paper,”

said Rose, who won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

“But there’s no time when all the best players are behind, especially when there are so many unanswered questions about the world’s top prizes.”

“I’m not going to escape my desire to play championship golf. Not graduating after 4-5 years leads to a major program so the only way, I can get in is to maintain a good international standard. “I was a kid at home trying to putt to win a major when I was 10 or 11, and I always respect that.”

Rose’s latest win will take him to sixth place in the Ryder Cup later this year.

“There’s a lot of potential and depth there and I don’t think it’s going to come cheap,”

he said.

“Listen, Dustin Johnson likes to play golf, Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka like to play golf, and you know, Sergio and Poulter. They bring passion.”

“While traditional men still dominate the game of golf, there’s a new league that’s trying to bring new ideas and competitive products.”

Rose also said that his relationships with guys like Henrik Stenson and Ian Poulter did not influence his decision to join LIV.

“Everyone can make their own decisions,”

he added.

“But that decision has consequences, and that decision is good or bad for them, so we’ll see. One good thing is that regardless of the outcome this decision will be made early, I think it will take time for everything to balance out and for the relationship to heal or for the men to fix it.”
