Cody Rhodes recently won the men’s Royal Rumble match and after that, it was given the next match which would be WrestleMania XL would be confirmed between him and Roman Reigns.
Rhodes had even indicated that he would be facing him for the WWE Universal Championship, one of the most highly anticipated matches in wrestling. Rhodes and Reigns were facing each other on one of the episodes of WWE SmackDown.
It was understood that once again the match between Rhodes and Reigns would happen but the event took a different trajectory, which shocked the spectators. Rhodes stepped aside and made way for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who stood in front of Reigns and challenged him for the title.
All the indications are pointing toward the match between The Rock and Roman Reigns in Las Vegas. However, the official declaration has yet to be made. The WWE has already shared their ads pointing out the event, including Seth Rollins, Bianca Belair, and Rhea Ripley.

The match between two of the biggest stars of wrestling is incredibly desired by the fans but now the recent change has irritated many from the WWE community. The viewers were clear that they wanted Cody instead of The Rock.

I hope that the live crowds revolt against @TheRock vs. @WWERomanReigns and constantly boo them until @CodyRhodes gets added in somehow. Similar to how it worked out for @bryandanielson back in the day.

The post, which stated, “WE WANT CODY” was also trending on Platform X, formerly Twitter. Rhodes’ failure to be included in the match irked fans, as some were supportive while majorly pushing for Cody.
Rhodes has made an impressive comeback in the industry and he wanted to achieve great success as his father was also an icon of the industry, Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes had also changed his career course but later returned to the industry and eventually was able to make a name for himself.
He changed his personality from his character stardust to something much bigger upon his successful return to the WWE. He was a fundamental personality in the creation of All-Elite Wrestling and also served as an executive. He came back in 2022 and became a superstar.
His target was to conquer the WWE championship and he achieved more success due to his performance in the Hell in a Cell Cage match. He was injured as he had a torn pectoral muscle but still moved ahead.
With his return in 2023, he won the Royal Rumble match and with his recent win at the same match, the community knew that he would next take on Reigns and throw him off his title as they all followed the story arc but in the end, the scene shifted as the Rock entered the match.
Rhodes might challenge Reigns in the future but this time the reports are pointing to the match taking place between The Rock and Roman Reigns. CM Punk’s injury and Vince McMohan’s lawsuit are reasons cited as to why the WWE is using it to redirect attention, as per Awful Announcing. The match, which will happen after two months, also has the potential to make changes that are not yet known.
