Cowboys owner Jerry Jones does not feel like head coach Mike McCarthy’s future will impeded a hunt for the right defensive coordinator.
Before signing for the Commanders, Dan Quinn had been the perfect defensive foil in his three years in Dallas.
McCarthy has one year left on his contract and unless the Cowboys reach the Championship game he will be on his bike.
“I don’t anticipate that being an issue at all,” Jones told team’s website. “If they take the job, they will be coordinator of the Cowboys. They would be looking at that right there and all that goes with that. If they’re aspiring, they know there’s a chance to be a head coach someplace, because the one that just left is.”
In a twist, former head coach of the Commanders Ron Rivera is being touted for the defensive coordinator position.
