“It is what it is. I’m wrong” Shannon Sharpe Acknowledges Error in Reflection on Lakers-Grizzlies Incident

Shannon Sharpe, the former three-time Super Bowl champion and Pro Hall of Fame inductee, has recently found another chapter of success in his life as a television personality. However, the former icon of the league found himself in a scuffle with the Memphis Grizzlies a year ago.

In one of his episodes of the NightCap podcast, he recalls the incident, which still affects him even now. Sharpe was sitting courtside for the Lakers game and began his conversation with Dillon Brooks, who was with the Grizzlies at the time. He eventually stepped closer to the court and consequently infuriated Ja Morant’s father, Tee Morant and Grizzlies teammates.

In 2021, Sharpe issued his remarks regarding NBA fans who cross the line with the players. It was two years later that he found himself in the same situation. The NFL icon still seems to be rattled by what happened between him and the Grizzlies.

According to Awful Announcing, he had shared, “Honestly, when people say they black out, I believe them. I completely forgot I was at the game. I said, ‘If one guy steps over that line, it’s over.’ I hate that I put myself in that situation, but when I say I blacked out, I honestly did. Security took me back in the hallway and they were talking to me. ‘Hey Unc, you good?’ As I’m calming down, I said, ‘Oh man. Man, I messed up.’”

Sharpe further continued taking responsibility for his actions, “It is what it is. I’m wrong. ’m deada**. I was wrong. I apologized to the Grizzlies and Dillon Brooks. Honestly, that might have been one of the worst moments of my life. I should have let it go.”
