Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney found himself in hot water after a fiery Instagram Live session where he seemed to criticize his team’s handling of his injury status before the AFC Championship. However, he clarified his remarks, stating they were taken out of context.

Toney was listed as out for the game due to a hip injury and “personal matters,” leading to his social media outburst. Speaking with NFL Network analyst Michael Robinson, Toney explained that his comments were misrepresented and aimed more at Giants fans than the Chiefs organization.

“In the process of that, I got interrupted, so it got a mixed message, I guess you could say. A lot of footage got chopped up in the release. So, it made it look like I was attacking the one I love the most. I never attacked the Chiefs. I was referring to the Giants fans, the people in my comments, not even on my live recording. But I was referring to them, which I shouldn’t have. I wanted to go out there and get my message across. I shouldn’t have did that at the end of the day. I’m a man. I can accept my mistakes just like I can accept my wins, you know. But I’m just moving past that right now. We’re here trying to win.” : said Kadarius Toney.

While Toney expressed frustration, he acknowledged his mistake in venting publicly and emphasized his focus on moving forward and winning. He also hinted at his desire for more involvement in the offense, suggesting he’s a top receiver “if he gets the ball.”

Despite the controversy, Toney confirmed his readiness for Super Bowl LVIII, leaving the possibility of him playing in the game open. Notably, he made a significant impact in last year’s Super Bowl victory for the Chiefs with a memorable punt return against the Philadelphia Eagles.
