On February 8, 2024, the city of Los Angeles is set for an unprecedented event as the Los Angeles Lakers celebrate their legendary figure, Kobe Bryant.
In a home game against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers will put on their special Black Mamba uniforms, a design co-authored by Bryant himself.

Rightfully earning his place among the stars, Bryant is the seventh Lakers figure to have his statue erected alongside figures like Shaquille O’Neal and Magic Johnson.
This followed a career that saw him as an 18-time NBA All-Star and an integral part in securing five NBA championships for the Lakers.
Featuring a python-inspired black print, the Black Mamba uniforms reflect an aesthetic borrowed from the 1996-97 Lakers uniforms, worn during Bryant’s rookie season.
Extra details such as an “LA 24” inscribed on the belt, and Bryant’s iconic “8” and “24” numbers beautifully concealed under each shorts leg, make the uniforms more special.
Basketball fans globally are encouraged to tune into Spectrum SportsNet for the live unveiling of Bryant’s statue.
Help create another page in this extraordinary legacy starting at 3 p.m. PT, February 8th, 2024. Due to event logistics, public access to Star Plaza will be restricted on the day.
However, fans looking to appreciate the statue can do so starting 10 a.m. on February 9, with Chick Hearn Court set to reopen for pedestrian access.
Making their debut in the 2017-18 season, the Black Mamba jerseys were a first-of-its-kind City Edition uniform.
The jerseys, designed by and paying tribute to Bryant, were ultimately worn once again during the 2020 NBA Playoffs, leading the Lakers to a historic 17th NBA Championship.
