Sydney Warner, the heavily pregnant wife of San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner, has received approval from her gynecologist to attend the upcoming Super Bowl in LA.
At 35 weeks pregnant, Sydney has been granted permission to cheer for her husband at Allegiant Stadium on February 11.
As the San Francisco 49ers secured the top seed in the NFC and entered the playoffs, Sydney took the initiative to inform her doctor and advocate for clearance to attend the event.
The 49ers last played in the Super Bowl in the 2019 season. With their last Super Bowl win dating back to 1994, the team aims to break a 29-year championship drought, competing against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.
A win would place the 49ers in a tie with the Patriots and Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history.
Sydney with cautious optimism, shared with PEOPLE MAGAZINE:
“I’m very superstitious. I asked, ‘Would you clear me to fly?’ And she said, yes. Everything’s going good so far, so as long as nothing changes in a week, we’re all good.”
Sydney’s commitment to maintaining her health during the trip includes staying hydrated and avoiding excessive movement on the day of the game.
Despite being in the challenging final trimester of her pregnancy, Sydney remains upbeat and takes things a bit slower, avoiding high jumps and loud screams.
Reflecting on her pregnancy journey, Sydney shared, “This last trimester is a little tougher, but I’m getting through.”
Fred and Sydney’s love story is unique, having met after the 49ers lost the Super Bowl to the Chiefs in 2019. Thanks to Fred’s sister-in-law, the couple found each other, with Fred reaching out to Sydney on Instagram after seeing her on the The Bachelor show.
The couple got engaged on May 15, 2021, and tied the knot on June 25, 2022.
Sydney announced her pregnancy in October 2023, revealing that they are expecting a baby boy in March 2024.
