In a recent episode of her podcast, “The Morning After,” Kelly Stafford, wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, opened up about the immense pressure and stress she felt during the 2022 Super Bowl. She vividly described her nervousness, revealing that she couldn’t keep anything down during each game, making her miserable and leading to a significant weight loss.
Fellow quarterback’s wife, Emily Mayfield, who was a guest on the podcast acknowledged the whirlwind of emotions Kelly went through, and Kelly admitted that looking back, the entire experience felt like a blur.
The intensity of the 2022 Super Bowl also took a toll on her on the day of the big game.
“I threw up twice,” Kelly said on the ‘Morning After’ podcast. “I kept it together though for the most part.”
Matthew Stafford’s journey to the Super Bowl victory in 2019 was remarkable. After playing for the Detroit Lions for over a decade, Stafford was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in March 2021. The trade to the Rams proved fruitful, providing Stafford with the elusive championship.
However, the emotional strain of facing his former team, the Lions, in a clash against the powerhouse Rams, took a toll on Kelly Stafford. The intensity of the confrontation became an overwhelming experience for her, leading to her falling ill.
