Notable television host, sportscaster, and host of Prime’s Thursday Night Football, Charissa Thompson, has recently revealed her soaring admiration for Michael Jordan in “Games With Names” podcast.
During the podcast, she also revealed that she is such a big admirer of the six-time NBA Champion and NBA legend, “His Airness” that she refused to interview him and never wanted the personality of the icon changed in her mind.
According to Fadeaway World, she shared regarding Jordan, “One is Michael Jordan and I refuse to ever meet him. I don’t want to know if he has bad breath, if he is mean to me, I can’t. I need to put him on the shelf and always have him be my favorite.”
Thompson also revealed that when she got a chance to interview him, she did not move forward with that interview. She states, “The first opportunity I ever had to interview him, his son Jeffrey was playing for Illinois and we’re in Indianapolis. They were like, ‘You need you to go up to the suite and interview Michael Jordan.’ And I was like, ‘I can’t do it.’ Larry Bird was with him too and I was like, ‘I can’t do it.’ And they’re like, ‘What do you mean you can’t do it?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t want to meet him.’ I just love him so much.”
Thompson also reminisced about her earlier days and how she used to have a lookout for the icon when she found out that he was in his camp. She continued further, “He would host a basketball camp and my guy friends that worked the valet there would call me when the black Range Rover pulled up. I was like, ‘Oh my god he’s there.’ And I would look around in the bushes like a psycho, just wanting to catch a glimpse of Michael Jordan.”
Thompson is still following in her footsteps by keeping her distance and preserving her perception, which is idealized when considering one of the biggest stars of basketball.
Thompson was born in Seattle, Washington, and attended Inglemoor High School. For college, she went to the University of California, and she graduated in 2004 with a B.A. in Law and Society.
Thompson had also appeared in various college sports shows before starting her prominent career with the big network giants. She then went on to work at shows including NHL on Versus, Big Ten Network, Extra, Fox NFL Kickoff, NFL on Fox, and Fox Sports 1 as a sideline reporter.
Thompson also hosted ESPN’s Numbers Never Lie and was the co-host of SportsNation and NFL Gameday Prime Host with the NFL Network.
