The NFL passer rating leader of 2023 and star quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, Brock Purdy, had an incredible track record and has become one of the top-notch quarterbacks currently in the league.
The quarterback was selected in the 2022 NFL Draft in round seven as the 262nd overall pick. Purdy, who has already set several league records, shares that in his journey, he had to earn everything.
Purdy is the lowest-drafted quarterback to start and subsequently win a playoff game and is also tied for most games with a passer rating of over 130 in a single season. With this record, he shares the berth with icons such as Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Tannehill, Tony Romo, and Russell Wilson.
He was also named NFC Rookie of the Month two times and according to Pro Football Talk, he shares, “The keys weren’t just given to me or anything, it had to be earned. Coming in Day One, just trying to learn Kyle’s system, his playbook, and earn the respect of my teammates. over time I’ve been able to step into that role and be ready for my opportunity. At the same time, I have a lot of help around me, and it’s allowed me to develop, and I’m going to continue to develop with the help and the cast I have around me.”
Purdy’s success story is just beginning, as he led his team to the NFC Championship game and now in his second season with the 49ers, he is leading the team to the Super Bowl.
Purdy also knows that his journey is long and he will eventually grow with time. Considering this, he expressed, “There’s a lot more room for me to grow.”
