Sportsnet and TVA Sports will televise the game in Canada. The last Winter Classic at Wrigley Field was held in 2009. The game saw the Chicago Blackhawks face the Detroit Red Wings.
According to ESPN, this will be the seventh appearance that the Blackhawks will make considering an outdoor game. This will be the fourth winter classic game.
The Blackhawks last appeared in the 2019 Winter Classic, which was played at Notre Dame Stadium. They played against the Boston Bruins. The Chicago squad has played the most games, considering the teams in the league.
This time, the excitement for the game is high, as the squad will have their 2023 NFL Draft first overall pick. As per the report, it was expected that the Blackhawks would take part in the outdoor game.
Luke Richardson, the head coach of the Blackhawks, via the Chicago Sun-Times, also shared, “My last outdoor-game memory was playing outdoor hockey when I was a kid, so it’s an exciting opportunity.”
