On Friday, Hall of Fame former Bears’ linebacker Brian Urlacher shared on Justin Fields-Caleb Williams’ dilemma and the franchise QB debate.
In the NFL draft this off season, the Bears hold the first pick and seemingly moving towards a potentially major decision-making process that will alter the franchise.
The popular opinion in the air is on whether the Bears should continue with quarterback Justin Fields or draft a new signal-caller, like USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
Urlacher shared Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team,
“I think at this point, if people are still asking if Justin is the guy, he’s probably not the guy. Right? Three years there and they’re still saying, Hey, is he gonna be our guy?”
“There’s a pretty good player sitting there as well, at least he was in college, in Caleb Williams. In my opinion, they probably have to draft a kid.”
Urlacher opinion said it won’t be an easy choice to move on from Fields, but after years of questioning whether he is or isn’t the guy, it’s probably time to draft Caleb Williams.
For the record, in his 40 career games, Fields has thrown 40 touchdowns against 30 interceptions and has yet to take the Bears to the postseason.
Until further decisions are taken, the looming question still remains on whether Fields, who was drafted 11th overall in the 2021 NFL draft, continue or the Bears use their first overall pick in 2024 to draft USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
