The build up to this year’s Superbowl, where the Chiefs beat the 49ers in overtime, was dominated by Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
Their romance has captured the sport zeitgeist and could be the biggest celebrity relationship since Bennifer.
Even the Animal Planet got in on the fun, with its Puppy Bowl featuring a Chihuahua/Chow Chow mix dressed in a No. 87 jersey going by “Travis Klawce” and a Shih Tzu named “Taylor Sniffed”
Longtime ESPN broadcaster Steve Levy, no doubt tapping into his animal spirit, was on play-by-play coverage of the Puppy Bowl, and introduced the “power pupple” with a joke about Kelce’s jersey ticket sales rising thanks to the Swifties.
“It’s been reported that the sale of Klawce jerseys have doubled since they were first spotted in public. Quite the power pupple,” Levy said.
Of course other players were referenced. This is the Puppy Bowl after all, and we were acquainted with “Bark Purdy,” “Patrick Mabones,” and “Snack Prescott”.
Has the world gone barking mad? Did we have a good time or a shitsu time? Woof woof.
