After the San Francisco 49ers suffered a tough loss in Super Bowl LVIII, Fletcher Cox couldn’t resist taking a jab at 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Cox took to Instagram following the 49ers’ 25-22 overtime defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs, telling Samuel to “Keep the Eagles out cho mouth” and highlighting the fact that Cox’s Philadelphia Eagles have a championship ring with their current roster while the 49ers do not.

The tension between the two teams dates back to previous matchups, particularly the NFC Championship, where the Eagles fell to the 49ers in a decisive victory. Despite a regular-season rematch where the 49ers dominated the Eagles, a playoff rematch didn’t materialize as the 49ers were eliminated in the Wild Card Round.
With no guaranteed rematch scheduled for the 2024 season, both teams will have to earn their chance to face off again. Until then, it seems victories will have to be celebrated off the field, and Cox took full advantage of that this season.
