The Kansas City Chiefs have been crowned the Super Bowl LVIII champions, surpassing the San Francisco 49ers. One of the main barricades for the Chiefs was finding a wide receiver who was consistent in his play and who would gel well with three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes.
Mecole Hardman, the three-time Super Bowl champion, solved this obstacle for the Chiefs squad. Hardman spent his initial season with the Chiefs, from 2019 to 2022. He then joined the New York Jets last year, but then once again went back to the Chiefs.
The squad, however, did not back away from giving him a moment to shine, as he became a talented part of the back-to-back Super Bowl-winning team. His slight contributions in the Chiefs’ regular season were not detrimental to the squad, as they went ahead with their beneficial decision and the squad reaped the benefits.
According to Pro Football Talk, Mahomes also expressed his views regarding Hardman in the press conference. He said, “I don’t know if it was so this week; I’ve played with Mecole for a long time. He’s always ready for the moment, and he’s someone that continues to practice hard and get better. And obviously, that receiver rotation, we were bouncing around a lot of guys all year long, and those guys just continue to work. Just like the last Super Bowl, you never know who it’s gonna be, but it’s about everybody being ready for the moment and he was he was ready for that moment in a couple big plays.”
In the second quarter of the highly anticipated matchup, Hardman completed a 52-yard catch and he concluded the game-winning touchdown that came in overtime from Mahomes, which was a three-yard pass. Hardman had encountered fluctuations this season; however, Mahomes commended his teammate for making himself ready, sidelining what happened earlier.
Hardman also acknowledged the challenges he faced during the season, further stating that he would not want “any other way” considering the incredible outcome.
