“Patrick Mahomes is the dynasty, not the G.O.A.T” Patrick Mahomes Emerges as G.O.A.T. Contender After Leading Chiefs to Third Super Bowl Victory

On Sunday, Patrick Mahomes etched his name in NFL history with a memorable performance that saw the Kansas City Chiefs come back to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in Las Vegas. After winning a third Super Bowl title in seven seasons, Mahomes is now firmly in the G.O.A.T. debate.

The greatest of all time is a bold claim but a case can be made for Mahomes. At the age of just 28 years old, the quarterback is one of six players to ever win three or more Super Bowls. He is a two-time NFL MVP (2018, 2022) a three-time Super Bowl MVP (2020, 2023, 2024), and has led the NFL in touchdowns on two separate occasions (2018, 2022).

After the victory at Allegiant Stadium, Kansas City fans were asked whether Mahomes could stake a claim to the greatest of all-time titles.

One Chiefs fan had an interesting interpretation:

“Patrick Mahomes is the dynasty, not the G.O.A.T, the dynasty. I’ve hated the terminology behind G.O.A.T…because all-time has never passed.”

The fan was speaking on NBC during the Chiefs postgame celebration and fell just short of proclaiming the star quarterback the greatest of all time.

“He is coming for that title, he will take that title 100 percent,” added the fan.

The Chiefs dynasty has been firmly established over the last decade. Since Andy Reid took the helm in 2013, the organization has recorded less than 10 wins just once in the regular season. Kansas City has appeared in six AFC championships and four Super Bowls over that period.

Since being drafted by the Chiefs with the tenth overall pick in the 2017 draft, Mahomes has an 88-25 overall record (regular season and playoffs combined), has thrown for 33226 yards, and recorded an incredible 258 touchdowns.

Mahomes tied retired quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Earl Morrall with his third championship on Sunday. Only Terry Bradshaw (4), Joe Montana (4) and Tom Brady (7) have more.
