“They’re passionate players. I love that,” – Chiefs HC Andy Reid after feisty fracas with TE Travis Kelce during Superbowl win over 49ers

With the Superbowl win over the 49ers in the bag head coach Andy Reid could appreciate the passion during the game, particularly a heated exchange between himself and star tight end Travis Kelce.

The Chiefs won 25-22 in overtime, and one can’t help but think if they lost would Reid have been so unforgiving.

Kelce, making light of a tense moment in the game joked after that he was “just telling him how much I love him” and Reid said Kelce was telling him to “just put me in” because he’ll score.

Reid said interactions like the one he had with Kelce “keep me young.”

“They’re passionate players,” Reid said. “I love that, even if they chest bump me to the other side of the 50. I appreciate it. I just love that the guy wants to play and wants to be in there playing.”

The history books will not mention a potential banana skin, it will read Kansas City, back-to-back Superbowl champions and the passionate discussion will become an anecdote shared at some Hall of Fame event down the years.
