During the early to mid-90’s, the Dallas Cowboys and Troy Aikman were the team to beat. The star quarterback was a six-time Pro Bowler and won three Super Bowls over a storied 12-year career.
Led by boisterous and animated head coach Jimmy Johnson, the Cowboys went on to win on to win the Super Bowl in 1992, 1993 and 1995 (under Barry Switzer). They set the standard in the NFL and few teams could keep up with their talented roster.
One aspect of the game superstars didn’t have to worry about in those days was social media. Aikman may be regretting a post from his X account (formerly Twitter) on September, 2019 where he responded to a post by The Athletic. The message from the media outlet compared Patrick Mahomes’ 2019 statistics with Troy Aikman’s numbers to which the former Cowboys quarterback responded: “Talk to me when he has 33% of my Super Bowl Titles.”
Troy Aikman tweeted this about Mahomes in 2019… Mahomes just tied him with a third SB win 😅

The overconfident jab from Aikman has now come back to haunt him.
On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 to record the franchise’s fourth championship. Patrick Mahomes joined an elite group of quarterbacks that have won three Super Bowl titles. Only six quarterbacks have achieved the feat with Tom Brady leading the way with seven rings.
It is important to note that the Chiefs quarterback is in his seventh year in the NFL and is only 28 years old.
Mahomes was named the Super Bowl MVP for the third time in his career and will attempt to win three consecutive championships next year.
