Mike Conley, the NBA All-Star of 2021 and the veteran point guard of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has recently shared his opinions on the three-time NBA All-Star and his teammate, Rudy Gobert.
Conley was selected in the 2007 NBA Draft in the first round as the fourth overall pick. From 2007 to 2019, he played with the Memphis Grizzlies and then joined the Utah Jazz from 2019 to 2023. Conley has played with many defensive players in his long career and has recently compared Gobert"s talents to one of the top levels in the league.
Gobert was selected in the 2013 NBA Draft in the first round as the 27th overall pick. The French player was selected by the Denver Nuggets and started his foray into the illustrious league.
He played with the Utah Jazz from 2013 to 2022 and then joined the Timberwolves squad. He was also named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team six times. In 2019, he was named the French Player of the Year as well.
Gobert had managed significant improvement from his last season and has assisted the Minnesota squad in prominent ways. He is counted among the best in the league when it comes to defense. However, despite recording impressive stats, he was not named to the All-Star team this season.
Conley has recently shared his opinions regarding Gobert, stating that Gobert isn’t noticeable and that is why his incredible plays have gone unnoticed. The veteran point guard also believes that his contributions are significant and he has also compared him to icons such as Stephen Curry and LeBron James.
Gobert, this season, has an average of 13.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks. According to Mark Medina, he shared, "I think he’s not treated like a superstar because he doesn’t do the superstar things, offensively, that LeBron [James] and Steph [Curry] do. But he has the same impact on a game. People gameplan for him like they gameplan for others."

He shared, "You gameplan differently for Steph as you do for somebody else. But with Rudy, you do have to gameplan for his gravity offensively. If he goes to the offensive glass, they’re bringing two or three people."
