“Episode 1 is Usher and the Halftime Show” J.J. Watt Expands Post-NFL Portfolio with New Show ‘What It Takes’ and Media Ventures

J.J Watt continues to find new and exciting projects to keep himself occupied after retiring from the NFL.

Like many former NFL players, the five-time Pro Bowler has pivoted to a career in broadcasting. He was a member of CBS’ Super Bowl Sunday coverage providing insights into the nuances of the game. The 34-year-old purchased a minority stake in English Premier League club Burnley last year. Watt is also keeping busy with the Justin J. Watt Foundation, a charity that works with schools in various states.

During a recent episode of the Pat McAfee Show, the former Houston Texans defensive end teased fans with his new show titled “What It Takes.”

“Episode 1 is Usher and the Halftime Show,” said Watt referring to why he was on the field during Usher and Alicia Keys Super Bowl halftime show.

Watt did not disclose much else but it will be exciting to see what direction he takes with the show.

During a different interview with McAfee earlier this year, J.J Watt disclosed that halfway through the 2023 season, he had considered a comeback and was “monitoring the Steeler and Texans situation.” Many NFL fans had hoped to see Watt return to the NFL for one final season but with his new venture in the production world, that seems to be out of the question.

During his playing days, Watt was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and one of the league’s top defensive players. His new career in the media world has developed better than many would have expected.
