NBA studio analyst Kenny Smith, famously known as “The Jet,” has been co-hosting TNT’s Inside the NBA since 1998. Smith has one of the longest tenures as a studio analyst and recently he revealed who among the NBA superstars would have a booming career in media.
Smith has shared his opinions in The Athletic’s Sports Media with Richard Deitsch’s podcast. The former two-time NBA champion and analyst revealed that the finest players on the top-notch squads with their reflective minds would do far better than those seeking contentious parts.
According to the awful announcing, Smith’s top three picks were league icons James LeBron, Stephen Curry, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Smith further revealed, “(Giannis’) honesty would reek through the television screen and drip out into your living room. Steph Curry, his ability to explain how he’s great when you ask him a question. In 15 seconds, he can explain it and break it down into simplicity, so he would be great at it.”
“LeBron obviously would be great at it. His memory of things that happened and when they happened would always elude anyone else, because he could probably recall things as players say he does, and we would see that on television.”
Further continuing, “Everyone thinks the guys who are very controversial are going to be good at it, I don’t always agree with that. Controversy is like cotton candy, it dissolves real quickly. But substance stays. That’s the difference with our show, there’s always going to be a next guy who can poke the bear, but we feed the bear.”
It will be seen with more time which NBA players currently move into the media area. Shaquille O’Neal has become one of the most successful television personalities and investors. He still comes to the media because he truly admires the game and wants to present audiences with his opinions.
Tom Brady, the seven-time Super Bowl champion and the greatest in the NFL, will also be commencing his new role with Fox as a lead studio analyst. Brady is also expected to buy shares in the Las Vegas Raiders squad as well.
