“This is a guy who’s earned the right to have a rough year” Warriors’ Klay Thompson Defended by Danny Green Amid Social Media Criticism

The Golden State Warriors are 26-26 for the season and currently placed tenth place in the Western Conference. They were recently defeated by the Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and James Harden-led Los Angeles Clippers with a concluding score of 125-130.

From the Warriors side, the star Stephen Curry posted a team-high score of 41 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Jonathan Kuminga ended his game with 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Klay Thompson added 12 points to the scoreboard, including 3 rebounds and 1 assist.

Thompson, with his play, has attracted divided attention this season. He was considered one of the best shooters in the league, but injuries have marred his impressive, long-standing career.

The three-time NBA champion, veteran Danny Green, who was waived by the Philadelphia 76ers, has recently defended Thompson. According to NBA Central Green, stated, "Klay"s getting a lot of hell on social media, which is nuts. This is a guy who"s earned the right to have a rough year once in a while. He"s had a great decade-long playing career. Bad years happen sometimes.

After the current season, Thompson will become a free agent; however, he wants to stay with the club even if his role is lessened. The four-time NBA champion shooting guard also shared earlier regarding the role via SI, "Yeah there’s nothing wrong with that, I’ll be 35 next year".

Thompson suffered from two career-ending injuries; however, the player, with his incredible determination and grit, has once again made his comeback on the court, but his calibre is understandably different from earlier.

Thompson is currently averaging 17.1 points and 3.5 rebounds, and his shooting percentage is 41.8 percent. Thompson further stated via Logan Murdock of The Ringer, "At 35, coming off the ACL and an Achilles [tear] and still have the ability to be a really good player."

"Maybe not the guy who scored 60 in three quarters and scored an NBA record 37 points in a quarter, but still a great threat out there. I’ve modeled my game after Reggie [Miller] and Ray [Allen], and those guys were incredibly effective until their late 30s. So I plan on kind of following that mold."
