Comedian and fellow Knicks fan Sam Morrill says Stephen A. Smith “is a curse to the franchise”

Comedian Sam Morrill has taken a humorous yet scathing jab at ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith over his recent commentary on the New York Knicks and, more specifically, his take on Knicks center Isaiah Hartenstein.

Morrill, recently dubbed as the “new Knicks correspondent,” didn’t hold back in calling out the popular sports analyst during a recent podcast segment.

The comedian began by expressing his admiration for Hartenstein and his impact on the team, particularly in the absence of key players like Mitchell Robinson and Jericho Sims.

“Little things, Dan. He is. He is because matchups are everything,” Morrill emphasized, defending Hartenstein’s contribution to the team.

He then turned his attention to Stephen A. Smith, suggesting that the renowned sports commentator might not be closely following basketball, especially when it comes to recognizing the value of players like Hartenstein.

“That’s why I know Stephen A. Smith doesn’t watch basketball when he goes mentioning some guy named Hardenstein. Shut up, Stephen A. Watch an actual game before you discredit the blue-collar work ethic of the great Isaiah Hardenstein, who has been the glue this year,” Morrill quipped.

Expressing frustration with Stephen A. Smith’s analysis, Morrill jokingly accused him of being a curse to the Knicks franchise, urging him to stop rooting for the team.

The comedian also claimed that whenever Stephen A. Smith calls a game, the Knicks lose, and he added, “Go away.”

Despite the comedic tone, Morrill continued to defend Hartenstein’s defensive capabilities and his overall contributions to the team.

He even suggested that ESPN could benefit from replacing Stephen A. Smith with someone who has a better understanding of the game, perhaps mentioning individuals like RJ or JJ.

Morrill concluded his rant by expressing gratitude for Kendrick, possibly referring to Kendrick Perkins, another ESPN analyst known for his basketball insights.

It remains to be seen how Stephen A. Smith responds to this comedic critique.
