The Dallas Cowboys face a difficult decision this offseason regrading the running back position. Since moving on from Ezekiel Elliot, the team has turned to Tony Pollard to lead the way. Pollard is set to become an unrestricted free agent this year and a deal is yet to be agreed to bring the 26-year-old back to Texas.
Pollard"s has finished with over a 1000 yard rushing over the last two seasons and contributed with 18 total touchdowns over that stretch. The Memphis native has been a key component for a team that has finished 12-5 over three straight seasons. With Mike McCarthy set to return for a fifth season with the Cowboys, it will be interesting to see whether the team invests big in the retaining their star running back.
During a recent epsisode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowler and star linebacker Micah Parsons made his feeling clear on the running back situation.
“I would say toward the end of the season Tony Pollard was catching his rhythm again. I do think he"s an every-down guy, said Parsons. “I would give Tony Pollard another shot."

Parsons has developed into one of the leaders of this Cowboys defense since being drafted by the organization as the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The former Penn State star believes the team should focus on investing in the defense.
“We need to get another bigger linebacker. And I said we need to get a super, 330 nasty interior [lineman]," said Parsons regarding his conversations with team owner Jerry Jones.
The Cowboys franchise tagged Pollard in 2023 with the 6"0" running back earning $10 million last season. After finishing the year with 1005 yards and six touchdowns, there will be plenty of interest in Pollard chooses to take the free agency route.
