In the upcoming NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears hold the No. 1 pick and Justin Fields’ possible trade if selecting a quarterback remains a concern.
Cole Kmet on whether or not it's fair for the #Bears to trade Justin Fields: "The NFL is unfair. That's just what it is. If they find a better, cheaper option at any position, they're gonna do that. As per Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times, Bears tight end Cole Kmet shared Fields has “built a really good rapport” with him and hopes he stays.
Kmet commented on the business decision to be taken,
“The NFL is unfair — that’s just what it is. If they can find a better, cheaper option at any position, they’re gonna do that. That’s what they’ve gotta evaluate, if whoever they’re gonna take at No. 1 is better or not. That’s what this business is.”
Highlighting Kmet would prefer to play with Fields in 2024, Kmet said
“He’s handled things from the beginning like a pro. There’s a lot of uncertainty in his future, but he’s decompressing. Justin’s gonna handle whatever situation comes to him like a pro.”
Sources have projected Bears possibly will move on to draft Caleb Williams. He shared about the 2022 Heisman winner, Kmet said of Williams,
“I’ve heard he can make all the throws and those types of things, but I haven’t really watched any tape. I’ve heard a lot of good things about him as a prospect.”
Along with Kmet, Bears pass-catcher also is campaigning for Fields to stay, wide receiver D.J. Moore said it’d be “nice to see Justin stay.”
Moore told Lieser,
“I don’t get paid to make that decision. I just go out there and make as many plays as I can for the quarterback that’s back there, as I’ve shown this year.”
Bears in the NFL off season have a window to make changes at quarterback and is one of the decisions to be made
