For the first time, Major League Baseball (MLB) is stepping outside the usual norms by venturing into a full-season documentary series in partnership with Netflix, mirroring the trend initiated by ‘Hard Knocks".
The series" first choice sparks intrigue as the Boston Red Sox, performers of two mediocre 78-84 seasons, feature prominently.
With two last-place finishes in the American League East for the past continuous years, some may question the reasoning behind giving the spotlight to the Red Sox.
Various fans are questioning the reasoning, due to their mediocre run and lackluster offseason.
Last Tuesday revealed that Red Sox"s third baseman, Rafael Devers, too holds a similar perception.
When asked about his potential starring role in the Netflix documentary, Devers, a two-time Silver Slugger, answered, “Not me."

Adding fuel to the fire, Devers laid bare his concerns, voicing his frustration. “Everybody in this organization wants to win, but they [the Red Sox front office] need to make an adjustment to help us players be in a better position to win."
Commenting on the team"s image, Devers said, “Nobody wants to be on Netflix as a losing team."

Despite his recent remarks, Devers"s commitment to the team is unquestionable. Before the 2023 season, he committed himself for the long run by signing a 10-year extension with the Red Sox.
