After several false dawns, it appears as if it is finally happening. EA Sports’ College Football video game (College Football 25) is back after over a decade. The highly popular game is set to be out this summer with fans around the country anxiously awaiting it release.
As with most things related to FBS college football, NIL (name, image, likeness) rights have been one of the key stumbling blocks between EA Sports and players. That issue now seems to be resolved.
The Athletic recently reported that players from 134 FBS will receive $600 if they choose to opt-in and be involved in the game. That means over 11,000 athletes will receive offers. Along with the $600, players who participate will also receive a free version of the game which is valued at approximately $60.
News: Players from all 134 FBS teams can opt in to be a part of EA Sports College Football 25 beginning today.
Every player who opts in will receive $600 and a copy of the game, an EA Sports spokesperson tells The Athletic.

According to a recent post on Instagram from ESPN, players that are transferred will continue to be compensated as long as they remain on an FBS roster. The fee will be fixed for all players and have nothing to do with games played or performance. Players who decided not to opt-in will be replaced by a generic player.
College Football fans have waited for this moment patiently. The last version of the game was released in 2014. Due to legal concerns surrounding players not being compensated, EA Sports had put a hold on the game which is now set to return to shelves.
