“One of the worst deals in the NBA right now” NBA Critics Slam Jordan Poole’s Deal as ‘worst deal’ in the NBA, amidst Wizards’ performance Struggle

The NBA champion of 2022, Jordan Poole, is currently in his rookie campaign with the Washington Wizards following his trade from the Golden State Warriors. This season, he will be compensated with $27.4 million and Bobby Marks, the NBA insider, has shared his thoughts on his contract.

According to what the NBA insider has learned, many clubs in the league think that Poole"s contract is not faring well among the circles. Poole was picked in 2019 in the first round as the 28th overall pick by the Golden State Warriors.

As per NBACentral via Bobby Marks, "A lot of teams are calling the Jordan Poole contract one of the worst deals in the NBA right now."

He had signed a $128 million, four-year rookie deal extension with the Golden State in October 2022. Washington obtained him in the trade and since then, his performance has not been what it used to be earlier.

In the current season, the shooting guard has an average of 15.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. His ongoing stats indicate a change from his earlier performance.

Although Poole still has talent and potential, his performance and consistency issues cast questions on teams investing in a large contract which was noted by Marks in his study.

The Washington Wizards are currently occupying the fourteenth position in the Eastern Conference and for the season, they are 9-45. The 24-year-old player, according to his high school coach, Jim Gosz, was appalled when he was traded, given that the transition did not sit well with him.

According to Mercury News, Gosz, who still communicates with him regularly, shared, "When Jordan left San Francisco, I think that really tore something out of his heart. I think he’s struggling a bit with the transition. He was so comfortable in Golden State and just loved it out there. I know he just loved his teammates [in Golden State], loved the team, loved the organization when he was there. To have him pick up and leave, I don’t care, that is going to have an effect on anybody."
