For fans of Johnny Manziel, the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast is must-watch content. The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner opened up on a variety of topics including Texas A&M football, his partying days, suffering from depression and the regrets he still holds from his younger days.
Manziel was regarded as one of the most talented and exciting prospects in the country when the Cleveland Brows selected him with the 22nd pick in the 2014 draft. His speed and vision, along with his ability to elude defenders, made him one of the most unique and dynamic quarterbacks to come out of Texas.
Despite a turbulent rookie and sophomore year with the Browns, one man who always stuck by Manziel was television personality Skip Bayless.
“Skip I love you bro,” said Manziel as he looked at the camera humbly. “I honestly feel like I let him down.”
Now 31 years old, Manziel reminisced fondly about Skip’s support and belief as he entered the NFL. Bayless went as far as to predict that Johnny Manziel would be bigger in Cleveland than fellow Ohio native LeBron James.
Shannon Sharpe: "People saying, 'Johnny Manziel will be bigger than LeBron James in Cleveland.'"
Johnny Manziel: "I think that person is Skip Bayless." 🤣

“I remember watching First Take religiously and being able to see him go on there and ride for me…I remember seeing the passion in his voice,” added Manziel.
Along with Skip, Manziel feels he let down a lot of fans and regrets some of his actions during his playing days. He spoke about how the Cleveland Browns organization gave him a great platform to succeed. LeBron James was another athlete who tried to guide the quarterback on the right path, often inviting him to his home.
