Several sources have reported that the Miami Marlins have agreed to a one-year deal worth $5 million with former Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson.
Anderson has been a polarizing figure due to his on field conduct but few can question his output over an impressive eight-year career in the majors. The 30-year-old led the majors with an impressive .335 batting average in 2019. He has been selected to the All-Star Game on two occasions and won a Silver Slugger Award in 2020.
Since making his MLB debut in 2016, he has recorded 98 home runs, 338 RBIs, 117 stolen bases and 1021 hits over 895 games.
Anderson was an instrumental part of the Chicago White Sox’s division winning 2021 team that won 93 games.

The departure of versatile infielder Miguel Rojas to the Los Angeles Dodgers prior to the 2023 season left a void in the Marlins infield. The club used a combination of Joey Wendle, Jon Berti, Garrett Hampson in the shortstop position but were still on the look out for an experienced infielder.
With Cy Young winning pitcher Sandy Alcantara and two-time batting champion Luis Arrez set to return next season, Marlins fans have a lot to be excited about.
Skip Schumaker’s team had a 84-78 record to finish third in the National League East. In a competitive division that includes the Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets, Anderson will be a welcome addition for a club that has only reached the playoff twice in the last 20 years.
