Gymnast and former Olympic all-round champion in 2012 Gabby Douglas will miss the Winters Cup Gymnastics meet after testing positive for covid.
She has not completed for the US since the 2016 Olympics and is looking to the US championship later this year to try cement a spot on the Paris 2024 team.
“I’m so sad to say that I won’t be competing this weekend,” she posted on social media yesterday.
“I was so excited to get back out on the competition floor, but unfortunately, I just tested positive for covid. Thank you so much for all of your support and positive energy — it really does mean the world to me. I’m crushed but I’ll see you guys soon!”
With the Olympic trials coming fresh off the US Championship, she will need to gain some competitive practice so time will tell.
