Doncic"s 73-point explosion in a win last month on the road over the Atlanta Hawks continues to spark interest, among the praise Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson is one of them.
Even with a lack of impressive speed, he is one such player who has bridged the gap from one era of pro basketball to the next. This week, heaps of praise came from NBA icon Iverson, who had some curious things to say about the five-time All-Star guard.
In an appearance on Shaquille O"Neal"s "Big Podcast" Iverson praised Doncic for his control over the pace of a game but picks for his defense. He said Doncic"s game has an element of streetball to it, and he even said the 24-year-old plays "like a Black guy".
During the podcast, Iverson said,
"What the hell is wrong with Luka? That goes without saying, 73… I"m talking about his style. It"s kind of like streetball mixed in with… I don"t want anyone to take this the wrong way. He moves at his own pace. He plays the way he plays. He plays like a black guy. He got swag. I mean, he"s so cool out there. [He"s] just slow, just major moves, and a wet ball. I mean, he shoots the blood out of that thing."
Dallas has a 29-18 record this season, in those 29 wins, Doncic averaged 35.8 points on 52 percent shooting to go with 9.5 assists and 8.8 rebounds per night.
While in the 18 losses, Doncic"s shooting percentage dips to 45 percent, but he still averages 31.6 points, 9.6 assists, and 8.8 rebounds in those games.
