Richard Sherman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Saturday morning, according to Pro Football Talk. The former NFL star was stopped by Washington State Patrol for speeding and around 2 a.m. and later booked in King County Jail at 4:51 a.m., according to arrest records.
Sherman told officers that he had just two margaritas, but the officer on site reported an “odor of intoxicants” and that Sherman had bloodshot eyes.
Sherman had previously been charged for DUI back in 2021 in Redmond, Washington.
No amount has been set yet for Richard Sherman’s bail.

The 35-year-old was one of the NFL’s top defensive backs during his playing days. Sherman was a member of the Seattle Seahawks team that went to two Super Bowls in back-to-back seasons, winning the 2014 championship against Denver Broncos. A trade to the San Francisco 49ers saw continued success for the cornerback known for his ability to shut down receivers.
Overall, Sherman played in a total of 159 NFL games (regular season and playoffs) between 2011-2021 with three different organizations. He finished is career with 41 interceptions, 546 tackles and 5 forced fumbles. Sherman was selected to the Pro-Bowl on five occasions over an 11 years career.
Now retired from the league, Sherman has pivoted to a career as a broadcaster and analyst. He has featured as an analyst for Amazon’s Thursday night football games and is well known for his work as a co-host on Fox Sports’ show Undisputed.
