This opinion contradicts the present standings, where the Heat is sitting at a modest eighth position in the Eastern Conference with a 31-25 record.
However, Pierce maintains a high opinion of Miami, given its striking victory over the Celtics in 2023.

The seven-game face-off during the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals between Miami and Boston was a nail-biting experience for fans.
Following an early 3-0 lead by the Heat, the Celtics surprisingly responded by claiming victory in the following three games to even the standing.
However, the Heat, led by star player Jimmy Butler proved their mettle in Game 7. Taking control, particularly on the defense, they decimated the Celtics by restricting them to a 84 points win.
As the current season begins, the Celtics introduce a newer, possibly more formidable roster than before.
They have inducted two prominent players, Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday. Furthermore, the Celtics managed to keep Miami at bay, rushing ahead with a 3-0 lead in the ongoing regular-season series.
The Miami Heat, however, find themselves entangled in a pressing challenges they must surmount before they can consider challenging Boston Celtics.
Following an impressive start that saw them reach as high as No. 2 seed in November, they hit a rough patch.
Consequently, Miami witnessed a staggering fall in standings after a disappointing run in December and January.
Despite Miami Heat’s struggles and a revamped Boston Celtics’ impressive show, Pierce’s belief in the Heat’s potential to cause an upset should not be ignored.
His fears stem from the Heat’s proven track record, particularly against the Celtics. Thus, the upcoming playoffs promise a gruelling battle between the teams, which makes this one of the most anticipated events of the season.
