Vikings’ Justin Jefferson Interested in Guaranteed Deal as He Aims to Become One of Highest Paid Receivers in League

Justin Jefferson’s speed combined with his reliable hands make him one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the NFL. Add to that his ability to elude defenders and make big plays and it is fair to say that the fourth-year receiver is one of the game’s elite players. That is what makes this particular contract negotiation so difficult for the Minnesota Vikings.

The Pro Bowler enters the final year of his rookie contract and is looking for a colossal extension. Jefferson is due $19.7 million in 2024 but is in line for a massive new deal that will make him one of the highest-paid non quarterbacks in the league. The 24-year-old Louisiana native spoke about his desire to “break the bank” earlier this year and is apparently looking for a contract that includes a significant guarantee.

According to some reports, Jefferson is interested in a contract that is guaranteed for at least three years. That type of agreement has been rare in the NFL for wide receivers in the past.

Jefferson would be looking to become one of the highest paid receivers in the leagues, which would mean overtaking Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill who is earning $30 million per year.

The negotiations could not come at a better time for the former LSU receiver. Jefferson is coming off back-to-back seasons where he put up big numbers. In 2022, he finished with a whopping 1809 receiving yard and 8 touchdowns off 128 receptions. Injuries limited him to just 10 games in 2023 but Jefferson still managed to record over a 1000 yards receiving (1074) and five touchdowns.
