There is plenty of love between the Detroit Tigers outfield with Patrick Meadows admitting that Riley Greene is the best athlete on the roster.
Talking ahead of a blockbuster 2024 season, Meadows told Overtime Heroics senior editor Reggie Roberts in an exclusive interview, that Greene is one of the most naturally gifted players in the field.
When asked who best athlete on the Tigers roster is, Meadows was as quick as a whippet with his answer.
“I think I’d say Riley Greene. He’s good at everything he does, literally. His hand-eye coordination is unbelievable.”
Greene was signed as the number five overall pick in the 2019 draft, and while he has not filled out to his potential, he is still an athletic freak.
“If you just watch him on the baseball side of things seeing him at baseball practise, watching him flick balls over the fence … he just has so much lip in his back,”
Both Meadows and Greene hit a first-at-bat single in their debuts, with Greene hitting his first walk-off home run off of pitcher Joel Payamps of the royals.
Greene is recovering from Tommy John surgery, on his non-throwing elbow but is expected to start the 2024 season.
