“He’s lucky he had the bubble on” Connor Bedard’s Hit on Patrick Kane Sparks Post-Game Banter amidst Red-Wings’ win over Blackhawks

The Detroit Red Wings have recently defeated the Chicago Blackhawks with the final score of 2-3. However, the game also saw the star of Blackhawks, Connor Bedard extending a hit on Red Wings Patrick Kane.

Kane played with the Blackhawks from 2007 to 2023 and he played against his former team and encountered Bedard at the United Center. In the third quarter, Kane took a hit from Bedard who pinned him close to the glass.

Kane replied lightheartedly in a post-game interview, “He’s good. He’s a great player, very creative. Go a little physical on me in the other corner there. So, he’s lucky he had the bubble on, or I was going after him.”

Bedard’s style of play has been incredibly impressive and he is not known as a big hitter. However, he has been involved in his fair share of altercations and most of them have involved other players having a scuffle with Bedard.

However, Kane is relatively smaller than big guys and was subjected to Bedard’s push in the matchup. Before the game, the talented player also shared kind words regarding Bedard.

According to NBC Sports Chicago, he expressed, “He’s been amazing. He’s been great. We talk about the fans and the city and how it’s such a great sports town, he’s in a great spot for that. I think the fans deserve another long run of a great hockey player and hopefully great teams behind him. But I think it’s a great way to kind of start the rebuild and to start with a player like that definitely accelerates it a little bit.”

Further continuing, “He’s been special, I’m sure you guys see covering him every night. He’s worth the price of admission. He does special things. He’s going to be a great player for a long time.”
