In 2024 Jefferson is entering the final year of his rookie contract with the Vikings, however, the negotiations haven’t headed too far at this point.
As agreed on his contract, the NFL salary cap is set to increase by $30 million from last year, the LSU product is set to secure the largest contract ever given to a receiver in league history.
Ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine, Pioneer Press columnist Charley Walters wrote, “Steam continues that the Vikings could make Justin Jefferson available for trade.”
The Vikings possibly could move on from their All-Pro wideout to get some massive draft capital back and perfectly time the question of extension is also looming.
With signs of Vikings and Jefferson agreeing to a new contract still at large since last week, the speculation about the team sending him this off season is continuing. During the last few weeks, Jefferson working out an extension with the Vikings has been one of the hottest topics around the NFL.
In four seasons with Minnesota, he caught 392 passes for 5,899 yards and 30 touchdowns, and was also named Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 after leading the league in catches and yards. Despite an injury-riddled 2023 campaign.
Jefferson still managed to record over 1,000 yards receiving and 68 catches, no receiver has been as dominant as Jefferson since he came into the league in 2020.
