Despite enjoying his time with the Celtics and considering them strong contenders for the championship this year, it seems unlikely that Blake Griffin will reunite with the team. Although Celtics players Derrick White and Payton Pritchard have been hoping for Griffin to return, recent interactions suggest he’s content with his life away from basketball.

During an appearance on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take, White and Pritchard revealed that they, along with the rest of the team, have been urging Griffin to join them. However, Griffin seems focused on enjoying his time outside of the NBA for now.

“I texted him actually a week ago or two jokingly being like, ‘Coming back for one last ride?’ He says he’s enjoying his life,” Pritchard said. Show host Dan Katz then proceeded to call up Griffin during the appearance with Pritchard and White, deflecting when asked about a potential return later this season. “We talk quite a bit,” Griffin said. “I’m just enjoying my life right now guys.”

Griffin, who played with the Celtics last season, saw a decline in his performance, with career-low statistics. Despite this, the organization valued his presence. While there was some interest in bringing him back, it appears unlikely for now.

Although the Celtics would be open to Griffin returning for the upcoming season, it doesn’t seem to be on the cards as he evaluates his options. Nonetheless, Griffin expressed appreciation for his time in Boston, highlighting the incredible fan base.

With one roster spot remaining, the Celtics have some flexibility, but it doesn’t seem like Griffin will be filling it anytime soon.
