“LeBron tweeted that his son is as good as some current NBA players” Shannon Sharpe insists LeBron James partly to blame for media pressure on son Bronny James

Four-time NBA MVP LeBron James is under fire after a recent social media post apparently criticising the media. In a post that has now been deleted on his X account, James shared a message of support for his son Bronny James messaging “Can yall please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball.”

The message followed an ESPN 2025 mock draft that was released listing Bronny James as the 39th overall pick, and subsequently removing him from the 2024 class. Bronny has played limited minutes for USC due to cardiac arrest prior to the season and an underwhelming freshman season for the Trojans has seen the 19-year-old’s stock drop.

During a recent episode of First Take ESPN’s Shannon Sharpe spoke out on James’ latest message arguing that no one speaks more about Bronny than James himself. He went on to say the Los Angeles Lakers star is partly at fault after stating last year that Bronny was better than some NBA players.

“Here is where LeBron is culpable. LeBron tweeted something that said his son is as good as some current NBA players now,” sad Sharpe.

Prior to Sharpe’s statement, television personality Stephen A. Smith highlighted James role for the pressure coming towards his son.

“LeBron is entirely and completely culpable for any kind of critique coming in Bronny’s direction,” said Smith.

LeBron James has stated his desire to remain in the league long enough to play alongside his son. If not selected this year, Bronny James will have a good chance of being drafted in the 2025 class.
